Traffic Stop Results In Shoplifting Charges

Lawrenceburg Police officers issued citations for shoplifting against two individuals while conducting a routine traffic stop Tuesday evening.

Department reports indicate the officer initiated the traffic stop around 8:00 p.m. after noticing that the vehicle had a broken taillight. During the stop the reporting officer requested permission to conduct a search of the vehicle.

The officer reports finding several items of clothing from Burke’s Outlet bearing price tags but not bagged, while conducting the search. When questioned, he reports that both vehicle occupants confessed to having stolen the items from the North Locust Avenue business.

Both will be required to answer the charges through Lawrence County General Sessions Court.
